Fhave

FHAVE is a rules-lite system for running role-playing adventure games. It's  a toolbox to help a group of friends run a game with a minimum of fidgety rules. A skeleton to be dressed and tailored by its players at the table and in the moment. 

This system is a first draft of a hacked together game inspired by the modern independent RPG community. Fhave is mostly a hack of Ben Milton's Knave and Yochai Gal's Cairn. These are lean fantasy RPGs without classes and Fhave follows in their spirit. The intent for the rules is minimalism and simplicity. Fhave shares one of both Knave and Cairn's primary features, a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License that intends to encourage people to take it, hack it and make their own personalized game.  

With Fhave I am attempting to merge ideals and gameplay concepts that intrigue me from the 'Old School' D&D scene with the particular way I have come to run games for my friends. Fhave works best for smaller bursts of gaming, getting up and running fast. The mantra of 'rulings not rules' will serve at the limits of the Fhave RPG Toolbox. If you find any rule lacking herein, just generate a solution with your players. Hack the game system.
